Georgia Sewer Guide exists to give accurate, practical answers to homeowners with a drain or sewer problem. This page explains how that is done and what you can expect when something is wrong.
Who writes and edits
All guides are written and edited by Toma Tomov, who runs the site. There are no guest posts, no paid contributors and no contractor-written articles. Toma is not a plumber; the guides explain what official sources say and do not rely on claimed trade experience.
How topics are chosen
Each guide answers one concrete question a Georgia homeowner, landlord or renter runs into with a drain, a sewer line or a septic system. We don't publish several pages that say the same thing under different keywords, and we don't publish near-identical pages for every city. If two questions share an answer, they share a guide.
How guides are researched
- Primary sources first: Georgia state agencies (such as the Secretary of State's licensing boards, the Department of Public Health, the Department of Community Affairs and the Environmental Protection Division), Georgia statutes and rules, sewer utilities' own pages and ordinances, the plumbing code, federal agencies such as the EPA, CDC, OSHA and FEMA, and manufacturers' documentation for equipment and products.
- Contractor marketing pages are not used as sources of fact. When the only support for a claim is a sales page, the claim is left out.
- Every guide lists its sources at the end. Important claims link to the source where they are made.
- Utility rules, codes, prices and laws change, and Georgia's utilities differ from one another. When a guide states a rule, it names who made it and links to the official page so you can check the current version.
- Health and safety statements follow the agency that published them. The site does not give medical advice.
- Guides don't claim hands-on work, testing, credentials or experiences that did not happen. Worked examples are hypothetical and labeled as such.
Use of AI tools
Drafts may be prepared with the help of AI writing tools. A tool never decides what is published. Toma checks every factual statement in a guide against its cited sources and edits the text before publication. Sources are never generated: each one listed was opened and read.
Dates and updates
Each guide shows the date it was first published and the date it was last updated. The updated date changes only when the content changes in substance, not for cosmetic edits.
Corrections
If you find an error, email tomov@gmx.com with the page address and, if possible, a source. We check every report. When a factual error is confirmed, we fix it and add a dated “Correction” note at the top of the guide that says what changed. Spelling and formatting fixes are made without a note.
Advertising is separate from content
- Ads are served by Google AdSense. Each ad position is labeled “Advertisements”, sits in its own bordered box, and is never placed inside a table, a list of steps or the middle of a sentence.
- Advertisers have no say in what we write, and we don't know in advance which ads Google will show. An ad for a plumber or a product is not a recommendation.
- Guides never ask readers to click ads.
Sponsored content and affiliate links
There is currently no sponsored content and there are no affiliate links. If that changes, sponsored material will be labeled “Sponsored” at the top, and any affiliate or paid link will be disclosed right next to the link, as US Federal Trade Commission guidance expects.
Independence
Georgia Sewer Guide is not affiliated with any utility, government agency, plumbing or drain cleaning company, insurer, manufacturer or trade group, and receives nothing from them. It doesn't rank, recommend or refer companies, and products are described by category, not endorsed by brand.
