What to expect

What happens when we come out

You call or send a request, we ask what the drains are doing, where and since when, and we agree on a time. At the property, the visit goes like this.

Georgia Sewer — Drain & Sewer Specialists · Operated by Alpha Plumbing and Sewer, LLC

  1. Gloved hands lifting the black cap off a white sewer cleanout pipe in a front lawn, with a grey tool case and a coiled drain cable beside it

We look before we recommend anything

We start from what you told us on the call and check the line itself, usually at an accessible cleanout, before we recommend any work.

It helps if we can get to the cleanout or the lowest drain in the house.

  2. A sewer inspection monitor on a canvas cloth in a yard, its screen showing tree roots growing through a crack in an old clay pipe

A camera shows what is in the pipe

When the problem keeps coming back or the pipe may be damaged, we run a camera through the line to find the cause and where it is, before any repair is chosen.

Tell us about earlier repairs or where you think the line runs; it helps us read the video.

  3. A tablet on a kitchen table showing a crack inside a sewer pipe, next to a manila folder and a pen

You get the video and our findings in writing

We give you the camera video and put what we found and what we recommend in writing. If the job needs a permit, we tell you before work starts, and we do the work once you agree.

Keep the video and the written findings; they show the condition of the line if you talk to your insurer or a buyer.

  4. A new white sewer cleanout pipe with a black cap in an open trench of red clay beside a lawn, with a sewer camera and its yellow push cable on a grey cloth next to it

After a repair, we run the camera again

When the repair is done, we run the camera through the line again to check the work.

Ask to see the video from after the repair next to the one from before.

Before we arrive

  • If drains are backing up, stop running water: no laundry, dishwasher or showers, and flush as little as you can.
  • Keep children and pets away from any sewage, and skip chemical drain cleaners.
  • If you know where the sewer cleanout is, make sure we can get to it.
  • Note what happened and when: which drains, after what, and anything already tried. It helps us find the cause.

What we don't do

We don't pump septic tanks (in Georgia that is done by pumpers certified by the Department of Public Health), install backwater valves or do trenchless lining or pipe bursting; when a job needs one of those, we say so and tell you what kind of company does it. Problems on the public sewer main belong to your sewer provider — find yours and its emergency line.
