Sewer line lookup

Whose pipe is it?

Part of your sewer line is yours and part may be the provider's, and each provider draws that line in its own rules. Type your city or ZIP code to see your provider, its emergency number and where its part begins.

The lookup runs on this page; what you type isn't sent anywhere.

The parts of a sewer line

  • Building drain: the pipes inside and under the house. Always the owner's.
  • Lateral (building sewer, service line): the buried pipe from the house to the public main. Some providers make the owner responsible for all of it, up to the tap on the main; others take over at the property line, the edge of the right-of-way or a cleanout.
  • Cleanout: a capped pipe that gives access to the lateral. Several providers require one at the property line or right-of-way, and some only inspect from there toward the main.
  • Tap and main: the connection to the public sewer and the sewer itself, usually under the street. The provider's.

When sewage comes out of a manhole, at the street, or in several neighbors' homes, call the provider first. When only your house backs up, the blockage is most often in your part of the line, and that is the part we clear, inspect and repair: (404) 482-2527. More detail: who is responsible for your sewer line in Georgia.

Every provider in our service area

Numbers and rules as each provider publishes them, read on October 24, 2026. Open a provider to see its lines and its rule; where it doesn't publish something, we say so rather than guess. Ask the provider before anyone digs near the street.
